We stocked this unit many years ago at a much higher price and without the recording ability. The main feature of the unit is the 8" (200mm) parabolic reflector for the inbuilt microphone. This magnifies sounds from up to 100 metres (300 feet) away as if the source was standing next to you. Its uncanny! It is ideal for studying birds and other wildlife as you can use the 8 x image magnifier/monocular to observe as well. If you want, you can record the (sound) event with the inbuilt digital recorder and transfer it to your computer safely later.
It is equipped with a sturdy set of high quality headphones with comfortable ear pads to screen out extraneous noise. Also to assist in this, there is a special background noise filtration unit which is controlled from the body of the pistol-grip unit.
This is a fabulous product and is ideal for the nature lover.
